Rouleur podcast: Larry Warbasse, Tour of Britain, Kenny van Vlaminck

Posted on

Larry and Conor’s NoGo Tour, Philippa York at the Tour of Britain, and exclusive news from Kenny van Vlaminck on his return to the top level. Or some level, anyway…

Larry Warbasse and Irish national champion Conor Dunne unexpectedly found themselves at a loose end following the collapse of their Aqua Blue team last week.

Rather than moping around at home in Nice instead of racing the OVO Tour of Britain, the intrepid duo set out on their own big ride – the #NoGo Tour – taking in as many famous climbs as possible. Their daily blogs for Rouleur mostly involve copious eating. The big lad Conor sure can tuck it away… Larry tells us how it came about.

Talking of eating, following the withdrawal of Flemish Fish Flans of Flanders from pro cycling after a protracted legal battle, team manager Kenny van Vlaminck’s team have been out of action for some time now. But they’re back! Top Bonk are still backing Kenny’s boys and he exclusively announces the new sponsors on our latest episode. All they need now is bicycles… Plus his latest poem – an ode to Geraint. It’s deep.

Rouleur columnist Philippa York and Wanty-Groupe Gobert rider Mark McNally tell us all about the OVO Tour of Britain and how they’ve seen it change over the years. McNally has won two jerseys in his ten editions ridden, while Pippa (formerly Robert Millar) won the race’s predecessor – The Kellogg’s Tour – in 1989.

Plus our very own Desire-able Stuart Clapp gets his cyclo-cross kit ready to rumble, while Brian Holm talks about modern nutrition – a vast improvement on his day.
