2018 photographs of the year – part 11: Benedict Campbell

Posted on

As 2018 comes to a close, we’ve asked our regular photographers to pick their favourite cycling images from this year

Photographs: Benedict Campbell
Brad Wiggins at the Rouleur Classic

Whereabouts are you based?
Oxford in the UK.

How long have you been shooting cycling?
A  long time, but seriously for the last 8 years I think.

What appeals to you about photographing cycling?
I know it’s a cliche but it’s the passion and love for the sport, I feel I can relate to  everything and everybody I photograph.

What other areas of photography do you work in?
30+ years I’ve been in Advertising shooting everything from perfume commercials to dog food ads.

Please tell us a little bit about your style of photography.
I believe reportage photography can be beautifully powerful and work on many levels if executed well. I like to have fun with it, but at the same time I’m very passionate about catching the emotion in an image.

What assignments have you done for Rouleur this year?
I shoot the Desire bit and have been working on a series of portraits called “projectP” or “The Knowledge” in the mag.

What are your plans for 2019?
Getting back to shooting more racing and ramping up my “projectP”
